From Scotland to NY to see Rockapella
What a day! This picture sums my experience up nicely. Since a trip to Florida in 2000 I have been a big fan of a group named 'Rockapella'. Its not the typical sort of music you would expect a 24 year old to listen to, but to be honest my motto in life is just to enjoy what I enjoy, none of this trying to be cool & impress others, hence my nickname 'geek' by my fellow PhDers! So after 12 long years of waiting I got to see them perform at Florence Gould Hall this evening & what a night it was. Their last song was 'what a wonderful world' & it brought happy tears to my eyes, just as it did when Mikey told me they were performing in NY during my stay. In my younger days when i couldn't sleep at night i used to lay in bed & listen to this song over & over again, the guys voice was just perfect! After the show Mikey treated me to their newest CD 'bang' which I managed 2 get all group members to sign (& I got a photo with them all:-D). Meeting them also gave me the chance to beg them to tour the UK, they only really perform in the USA, Japan & Germany, so here's hoping my small fib 'I travelled all the way from Scotland just to see you' has an impact on their touring plans. After the show we went to the most amazing diner named 'Eileens Stardust diner'. Whilst eating typical American food we were spoilt with singing & dancing by those aiming for their big break on broadway. My what a day. Liseykins is one lucky, happy chappie:-D
