Lemon furred

A couple of hours' intensive kitchen activity with freshly-made sponge cake, lemon curd, cream cheese and icing sugar produced this luscious feline gateau for a cat-loving friend's birthday surprise and off they went with it to catch the bus.

The whiskers were made of Syrian apricot leather (qamar al deen or amardine) cut into thin strips.

I will miss all the making, baking and caking when H and S head off for their respective universities later this week.
