LISSETT AIRFIELD MEMORIAL
This memorial, to 158 squadron, is a tribute in the form of seven airmen and stands as part of a wind farm at the aerodrome.
Altogether 851 men and women lost their lives while based at the site. 158 Squadron took part in bombing raids almost every day.
This aerodrome was operational from 1943 until 1946. On any given day there were 20 Handley Page Halifax bombers on standby.
