Classe découverte
I spotted this on the gate of an elementary school on île Saint-Louis this morning. It is a report to parents from a class at the school who have gone on a classe découverte, another tradition that we don't have at home. Kids usually go on a classe découverte for a week, just with their classmates and teachers - no parents. Sort of like an extended field trip or going to summer camp with your class. Ch has one coming up this month and is *very* excited about it! More from me about it later, I'm sure. We were told we would get our updates via the school web site, but I thought this public letter was very sweet.
Here is my translation of it:
Hello dear readers,
Everything is going well. The weather is very good here. There is snow at the ski station of Mont-Dore. This morning we went cross-country skiing.
In the afternoon we milked a goat. We fed the baby goats from a bottle; they had funny double chins... We brushed them.
Tonight we are going to stay up and dance hip hop!
Kisses, until tomorrow,
The children
