Desk Trophy

This is a picture of a little trinket I have on my desk at work. It as a sample piece of rapid prototyping in metal, or 3D printing. A metal powder (in this case stainless steel) has been melted with a laser to fuse the material. The little mesh is about 1mm squares with the wall thickness being about 1/4 of a millimeter. This will be the future of how things get made, and it is only limited by the designers imagination.
