...will be 102 years young tomorrow, so #1 daughter, #2 son and I treated him to a surprise afternoon out. A ride on the big wheel at Albert Dock followed by lunch in town. When he realised what we had planned for him he was initially aghast, and said "you're not getting me on there!", but we gently coaxed him aboard, and soon his glum expression changed to delight once he saw the views of his city from on high. The weather was perfect too - clear blue skies and views as far as Wales over the river. An explanation of who John is here.
