Port Hills
This is my local slice of the Port Hills.
I'm standing by the Heathcote River where Waltham Rd becomes Wilsons Rd. It stunk so there is still a dodgy sewer issue going on nearby.
The hills are rather lovely aren't they? A fabulous asset on our back door. Pity a fault line lurks beneath but we're learning we can't have hills and mountains without the other. The experts think most of the energy on the land end of the fault has been spent.
The rocky prominentry on the left hand sky line is Rapaki Rock. It was a wonderful rock climbing area. Not any more. But with many things in life I have happy memories.

If you look carefully just to the right of the second-from-right lamp post there is a faint line snaking towards the top of the hills. This is the Mt Vernon Farm Track. Happily it's one of the handfull of tracks the council endevours to keep open these days. It is mostly on open country with a low risk of rock falls.
Sadly not the case for the tracks in the valley straight up the road, or the the valley on the right. But something is better than nothing and I'm grateful to still have access to the Port Hills, albeit limited.
A pleasant wander down the road and across the park to take this. I'm good at finding excuses to not do house work ;-)
I might back blip the next couple of days.
