Stupid things to do #1

Today I decided to tackle some of the more mundane household tasks. Demijohns of wine have been sat waiting for the final additions before it can be bottled so I thought I'd get on with that. All was going fine, I could only find the metal funnel, that was fine though. Yeah, it was all fine until I came to adding the chemical that had been dissolved in water from the kettle...

Rather than put the airlock on the work surface and have to clean it again I kept hold of it and just held the funnel in that nice hole that's formed between your thumb and forefinger. Really, really stupid thing to do, hot water heats metal, metal burns skin, can't drop it as it's full of hot liquid so I just had to bear it whilst it drained through. Immediately after it felt fine, an hour or two after and it's really hot, tender and has even come up with a blister on the boney part.

I will NOT be doing that again.
