Roberto Clemente Bridge - Pittsburgh, PA

- Had a nice day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, followed by dinner at an Italian restauarant (had Gniocchi with meat sauce - yummy), and a walk by this bridge afterwards. Part of the Pittsburgh skyline can be seen in the background. This was my first time using my Tokina F1.4 wide angle lense at night - I took 7 different shots of this bridge and the Andy Warhol bridge (not shown) and 6 came out crystal clear with no tripod. Weather permitting, I hope to go to Mount Washington on Sunday evening so that I can get a skyline shot of Pittsburgh...

About the bridge: It was originally named The Sixth Street Bridge when it was completed around 1928. It was renamed in 1999 for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball player Roberto Clemente, it is one of three parallel bridges called The Three Sisters, the others being the Rachel Carson Bridge and the Andy Warhol Bridge. The Three Sisters are self-anchored suspension bridges and are significant because they are the only trio of nearly identical bridges-as well as the first self-anchored suspension spans-built in the United States.
