Gargir

A whirlwind day ?. I had the 'perfect' blipfoto, but then my camera was absent to capture it! I ventured out looking for 'something' and then I realised that the International Garden Show is exhibiting, so all geared up to make a nice little write up and snapping away on photos only to realise that it was on invitation ONLY for today and it will open to the public tomorrow ? HOW GREAT!

Feeling disappointed, I drove back home and thought that I will photograph the pilar that has all the Dilmun paintings (very colourful and striking shapes and designs), so I parked my car and took a photo. One will thing that I have my photo and will go home ?. Uhh, no! I drove towards the Bahrain Fort and saw a signboard "Fort Garden". I never go down this area and WHALLAH! I saw these guys collecting fresh rocket leaves, or the Arabic name, GARGIR. This is a spicy salad green that is often served in salads or as whole leaf accompaniment to the main meal. It is said to sexually invigorate men.

These two men are from Bangladesh and their names are Mohammed and Mohamed. While I was talking to them, I heard this loud BANG and asked them if they know what that sound was ? "Shutting!" they replied, ?. I realised it was gunshots! A local Shia village is not far from the plantation and these men have no concern but only to pick and collect the GARGIR. So eventually I have my blip and to conclude, it is something related to the GARDEN SHOW!
