1950s Tea party

So Saturday was my best friend Hayleigh's 24th birthday. She doesn't drink so she requested we have a party with lots of tea (how British :P) and cakes!
We were running a bit late on Saturday so it was only me who had time to make cakes and what a terrible Cupcake chef i make!

I had bought 2 packets of Mini Cupcake mix and in the ingredients list it said '60g butter' per pack - i mixed everything up but noticed it didn't tell me to put the butter in the cake mix... i thought maybe they had made a mistake and i proceeded to put the butter in the mix anyway... safe to say the results were pretttty minky - they were absolutely sodden with butter, practically swimming in it... i'm thinking if you squeezed one there would be quite a trickle of butter.

I found the packet and read it again... the butter was meant for the icing, not the cake mix.

So i started over with actual raw ingredients and not packet mix. The results are as pictured :)
I was attempting to make them rainbow colours inside but because the mix was too heavy the colourings just mixed and i ended up with cupcakes that looked a bit mouldy haahaa. At least they tasted nice though!

I had a nice time at the party, was strange not having a drink but i actually enjoyed it in a different way - and Hayleigh had a good time and that's all that matters :)
