Bittersweet

Today my favorite player's jersey was retired at the Mammoth game. He has been a player for the Mammoth since it became the Mammoth 10 years ago. It was very sad knowing that he was retiring and we would no longer get to watch him on the field. But it was also very cool seeing his jersey retired - only the second jersey up in the rafters. I am not eloquent enough to properly put this into words, suffice to say that he will be missed.

The lighting was too much for my little pocket camera, so none of my pictures of the retiring ceremony really turned out. I however, very much liked that during warm-ups, all of the players wore a #6 Langtry jersey, and luckily those photos came out.

This year's Mammoth roster contains only a small handful of returning players (7 I believe were on the bench). It was a bit sad that so few of the people that Langtry has played with in past years were there for the event. I did find it very cool that Shewchuck - a former Mammoth player, currently playing for the opposing team - was there for a small portion where Langtry embraced each of his teammates.

Especially after last years very disappointing season, the opener for this season was outstanding. Several of the new players (including a couple rookies) turned out stellar performances that fit very well with the Mammoth style that the fans love. There were even several Langtry style, all-out, flying horizontal over the crease goals. Final score 20 to 14. An astounding score (especially considering that last year 6-8 points scored was the norm). I was a little worried at all the new players, but now I am incredibly amped for the season. GO MAMMOTH!

Also skied a pretty good day today - they finally got a couple more runs open. Needless to say I was ready for sleep after the game!

Oh, there was another game important to Denver today - something about the ponies and Tebow. They got slaughtered - record setting slaughtered, yup definitely was at the right game!
