Belgenny Farm
This is a picture of Adrian in his grandparents back garden. In the background in Belgenny farm which was the first established sheep station in Australia. It was pioneered by John Macarthur who took advantage of generous land grants and free convict labour to manage the land. English breeds of sheep were not thriving in the Australian climate and Macarthur brought in merino sheep from Spain and the rest, as they say, is history. The wool industry at this time was the backbone of the Australian economy (and continued to be so for nearly 200 years). Australia is still one of the major suppliers of wool worldwide. And for those who haven't worn merino wool, you need to go out to the shops NOW and buy some. It's very versatile, is beautifully soft and can be worn nearly all year round.
