Grand Prize Baguette
This is the window of a boulangerie near the the Cardinal Lemoine metro station in Paris. The display evidently proclaims that the bakery won the second prize in the 2010 Paris competition for the best Baguette de Tradition.
The "tradition" (its informal name) is a specially baked baguette that most bakeries offer--they can charge more for it than the usual baguette, which is larger and sells for a lower price (we'd thought that the price is regulated, but I've not found confirmation for that on the web). In any case, the tradition is more profitable for the bakeries.
I couldn't resist the reflection here (which will be no surprise for most). I'll include it in my reflection series. The paper crowns in the window are those sold with the galettes des roi.
