Mile-long jetty
I always thought of this as a blot on the landscape - or seascape as it juts a mile from the Ayrshire coast at Fairlie into the Firth of Clyde.
It's officially called the Hunterston Terminal and was built in the late 70s to handle iron ore from the now defunct Ravenscraig steelworks. Just down the coast is Hunterston nuclear power station.
From this angle the cranes look like a giant chainsaw - and the way the rather large tanker is dwarfed gives an idea of just how big this structure is.
Not my favourite piece of the coast and not the best photo in the world - but that's my blip for today.
