Terror in Bunny Land

Doing my daily check for Bun-Bun, I discovered 8 energetic little cottontails hopping around. High-pawing each other, playing high-speed tag and blurring by me faster than my 7D could focus. Eventually, I focused on a cutie that was pulling down greenery from a bush. Before I could release the shutter, a most hideous terrifying scream came from above me. Keee-eeeeee-ar. My blood curdled, and believe me, I'm oh-so much larger than a rabbit. I looked up to see a red-tailed hawk soaring. Now these babes may be young, but they know how to duck and cover. After producing that raspy raptor sound, this predator headed even higher in the sky. Why would he sound a warning to the cottontails? Nmbr-1, my science teacher, thinks the plan was to scatter the bunnies into the wide open golf course.
I understand the predator/prey relationship, and normally I'd be on board to document such an encounter. But, not with my Bun-Bun's. I was prepared to leap the fence in a single bound, and with arms flaying, protect these little ones.
My action blips weren't in sharp focus, so I chose this one because of the absolutely too-cute-to-believe face.
