Wild Goose Chase

I looked out of the window at about 3.30 this afternoon and was surprised to see a flotilla of Canada geese - 100 or more - out in the ocean. Naturally, I grabbed the camera and chased after them. They were pretty far out to sea, but as the sun began to set they took off in batches of about 20 or so and disappeared over the horizon. Lots of nice shots of them.

It always surprises me that Canada geese seem quite happy on salt water - at least in this part of the world.

On my way back home, I found that some of them had come ashore. I like this picture because it has Nahant in the background, beautifully lit up by the setting sun.
