St Elijah's Chapel

On a hill in the desert is one of several chapels built at St Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery . The Monastery is located near Florence, AZ, and about three miles away from the Pinal Pioneer Parkway. By coincidence today is St Anthony's Day. He lived in the Third Century, and became the "father of monasticism".

In 1995 six monks arrived in the Southern Arizona desert to establish St Anthony's Monastery. In the succeeding years they have built many Chapels and beautiful grounds to foster their worship.

Visiting hours are 10:30 to 2:30. Ladies must wear long dresses and headscarfs to explore and enjoy the beautiful grounds. We will return when Gretchen has the proper attire.
