High Summer

After all the low cloud and mist over the last couple of months it took only a few days of hot sunshine to transform the landscape. This is a typical inland Canterbury scene, with crops and roadside grasses turning gold. Abners Head is backed by the Big Ben Range. A flock of southern blackbacked gulls circle lazily. It was searing hot out there today.
