Spindles

I popped out at lunchtime today to visit my dressmaker friend who is busy moving premises. She had just removed all the bobbins of thread from the spindles fixed to the wall of her old studio. Without the clues from the title, tags and description of this entry, I wonder if anyone would manage to guess what I photographed?
