Fyvie Castle
Had a walk round the graounds and Fyvie
lake on this beautiful spring like day.
It is believed to be 13th century.
The castle was once a royal stronghold
Both William the Lion and Alexander
the 2nd held court there and both Edward
the 1st of England and Robert the Bruce
were both visitors.
Families-Preston, Meldrum, Seton Gordon
and Leith each built one of the five towers.
Inside is richly decorated with 17th century
tapestries and paintings by artist such as
Batoni, Raeburn, Romney and Gainsbourgh,
It features a large wheel staircase and is
considered to be the finest in Scotland.
The castle was acquired by the National
Trust for Scotland in 1984.
Hope your all having a great day.
