Fishermen's gear.

Only an hour from home, but a different world, is the village of Beadnell, where we've come to spend a few days.
There were a few people around when we wandered down to the beach after arriving this afternoon. Mostly families with children playing, who were well wrapped up against the biting cold, and quite a few dog walkers.
These are the prominent and substantial limekilns, at the edge of the tiny harbour used today for storing the fishermen' s gear.
Once the sun went down it was colder than ever, and everyone disappeared. We went to the cottage to light the stove, and have a warming drink.
