How are the mighty fallen..?
from Press Association today:
"Kodak in bankruptcy protection bid"
Now I wonder why that might be..?
Possibly, that after decades of near-monopolistic market penetration and subsequent astronomical profits, they just could not believe that it might end.
In the professional world, Fuji did those sneaky underhand things like giving the customer a consistent, high-quality product with a reliable supply. In the amateur market, cheap film branded by processing houses and then the subsequent growth in digital compacts caused the collapse of that market.
So like the hand-weavers, the sailing fleets, the canals, the railways, the liners, the draughtsmen, the miners and typesetters, they are disappearing.
This is a 'frozen-in-time" collection of the Kodak films I had in the studio when I switched to Fuji.
Long ago, I stopped using Kodak, more recently, any film. Good riddance.
