Gillies Hill Woods
I walk regularly in the woods above Cambusbarron in the area known as Gillies Hill. This is a wonderful expanse of mixed woodland and the habitat of a range of wild life. Most recently there have been sightings of red squirrels and foxes and deer are also known to thrive in the woods. The bird and plant life are equally prolific.
The woods however are currently under threat as there is the possibility of the resumption of quarrying. This could prove disastrous to these fine woods and a local campaign is being fought against moves towards re-establishing quarrying. Details of the campaign and more about the woods and their history can be found at www.savegillieshill.org.uk
This blip shos a corner of the woods on a dark January day. I hope to show other images of the woods as the year
progresses.
