Dreamed a Dream

The old canal in the town of Dingwall was built in 1815, the most northerly canal in Britain. It was designed by Thomas Telford, one of the most famous and prolific Engineers of the time.

Looking at the remains of the canal today I was trying to imagine what it must have looked like in it,s heyday. This was sadly short lived as the arrival of the railway to the town in 1863 signalled the inevitable demise of the canal which slowly fell into disuse, no longer viable by 1890.
