Unfortunately yesterday's fun has turned into a not so pretty sight around here. This is the scene just a mile or so from our house.

Early in the week we had a rare storm of snow. Now we are in the midst of a lot of rain and major flooding.

Our road is currently closed due to the river flowing over the road (it is a small river, but nonetheless, a lot of water). Our house fortunately is near no large trees and in the middle of a high field.

Our small town of approximately 10,000 is beginning to evacuate in certain areas as the river through town is getting closer to homes and stores.

Last time I remember seeing a storm like this was in 1996.

This obviously is not a major storm compared to so many others around the world, but in our rural area, it impacts quite a few.

Hard to see unless you view in large, but the delivery driver and truck behind him both made it through. We picked up the "road closed" sign that had blown down in the wind and put it back in the road. Hopefully no one else attempted to get through!
