Fond Farewell
Today was the funeral of my Uncle James. He and my Auntie Helen are honourary family members who babysat me for many years and looked out for me in many ways. James got diagnosed with a terminal illness late last year and had to endure a rapid decent into serious illheath. He was one of those incredible people who's sense of humour remained in tact until the very end. I went to visit just before Christmas and spent some time singing to and praying with him and Auntie Helen. It was a really special moment, and in hindsight, one I'm really grateful for. The family asked me to sing a solo at the rememberance service today. I wasn't really sure if I'd manage because singing is one of the most difficult things to do when I'm emotion - but I owed it to them to try. Thankfully all went smoothly and I got to spend some time at home with the family afterwards too. It was a really nice and actually enjoyable day despite the occasion.
Spent the evening with my very hyper youth house group kids. Sometimes they astound me with the intelligent questions they're asking - some at only 12 years old. Came home and treated myself to a Rolo dessert after a somewhat long but pretty blessed day.
