BIRDS IN ICEY WATERS
THESE TWO BIRDS WERE PART OF A LARGER GROUP THAT I FOUND ON THE FARMINGTON RIVER IN CANTON. I HAD SOME TIME AS I WAS IN BETWEEN DROPPING OFF ONE CHILD AND NEEDING TO GET ANOTHER ONE FROM SCHOOL. THE DAY WAS COMING TO THE POINT WHERE THE BLUENESS IN THE SKY WAS EVAPORATING AND FILLING UP QUICKLY WITH GREYNESS. THE TEMPERATURES HAD BEEN DROPPING AND THIN ICE WAS FORMING ON THE PARTS OF THE RIVER GIVING IT A ROUGH TEXTURE. OFF IN THE DISTANCE I COULD SEE SEVERAL BIRDS SITTING IN THE WATER. FROM AFAR IT LOOKED LIKE THEIR BELLIES WERE FROZEN TO THE ICE. AS I WALKED CLOSER I COULD SEE THAT SOME WERE STANDING ~ PERHAPS SKATING? I ZOOMED IN WITH MY LENS,REALIZING THAT THEY INDEED WERE IN THE WATER, JUST ON THE EDGE OF THE ICE.
