I think I'll go to Boston
Running the Boston in honor of my AM's awesome fight with breast cancer this year. In honor of a 17 yr old named Nikolaus from
Maine who's still fighting, without the benefit of privilege or comfort. Living in a trailer with his sister and parents, with no heat. Hard to complain about a winter weather advisory in the morning when he's battling Hodgkins Lymphoma with no heat. I love Team in Training because it fights for kids like Nikolaus and their families. I'm really honored to be running with them.
So many people we know and love have been impacted by this disease. I'm asking people to send me the name of their person and I'm writing it on a ribbon. In memory, in honor, in battle... Every step of this race will be for them. I'm going to run for a cure. What an honor.
I cried filling out the form. Humbled by the opportunity. Just thankful to be a part of something so great. And while deeply saddened by the long arm of this terrible disease, heartened by the incredible strides that organizations like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have been able to share with us... We're edging in. Cancer's on the run, and we'll be chasing it down in the snow tomorrow morning.
Some of us a bit more slowly than others!!!
