Dyke
The Devil's Dyke between Cambridge and Newmarket. (Not the one in Sussex).
"The Devil's Dyke is the finest Anglo-Saxon earthwork of its kind in the country and is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It stretches in a near perfect straight line for 7 ½ miles (12 km)."
It's a fascinating 'scar' across the otherwise utterly flat landscape, and must have been a phenomenal undertaking.
J's at Burwell this weekend (hence passing through the Dyke), E's Mollying, S's revising, and I'm looking at the in-tray.
Later I'm off to a friends' party - with a 1970's theme. Hmm.
