The Day I....

The Day I Didn't Believe It

Victor Meldrew Day 2

Over the past few years I have helped out with a local AmDram club doing their headshots and photos for their website etc. I don't mind helping. They're a community group and I've never begrudged spending the time and the petrol money to improve their club. I recently got asked to film their Panto. To be honest, I was a bit reluctant. I had seen it twice already and video doesn't really excite me. But they needed my help so I said I'd do it. I spent much of Friday evening making sure that the battery would last and working out how much memory would be needed to film on HD. Realising I wouldn't have enough memory for a full show, I forked out 50 quid on new memory cards to make sure that they weren't disappointed.

I turned up to set up and well bugger me if the guy on the door said if I wanted to film then I'd have to fork out 50 quid for copyright. I explained that I was doing this for the club not for me but he wasn't having any of it. Then he had the cheek to try and charge me to get in!

Now it strikes me that there may well have been a copyright issue but it also seemed like he had prepared the speech and he was very sharp to the point of being, well frankly quite rude.

So excuse my second day of moaning. Tomorrow is another day and in any case I've saved time and money for the future because I won't be helping out again.
