it's evolution Jim but not as we know it .
The nearest these Herring Gulls have ever been to a herring is a discarded packet of cod and chips near our local chip shop.
They gather every night on an exhausted gravel pit which is two miles out of town conveniently near the land fill site.
Not for them the rocky cliffs of Flamborough Head , evolution means a cosy nest in the reeds .
They also visit the field behind our house every morning at 9.30 am for their breakfast which can't be too much because they only stay 10 minutes or so before moving on.
This blip shows them doing just that.
Being a seagull seems to be a good life.
