Journeys day by day

Waiting

Caught the varied thrush staging in the star magnolia like the juncos and chickadees do. The buckets of rain last night opened up a small section of grass from being covered by snow, and there were three of these guys delighting in looking for bug snacks.

Power finally came back on about 1 today, and I'm desperately tired from waking up every couple hours to put logs on the fire for the last two nights and from working doing cleanup in the yard. I considered skipping blip, but then a bunch of opportunities happened. The bushtits flocked on the suet feeder and this guy showed up and didn't fly away when I went to take a photo (they're pretty skittish).

Off to go get some uninterrupted sleep. Thank you to all the Utilities workers out there who worked hard under crummy conditions so I could have power again. They brought in a couple hundred from other areas, including Canada, to make it happen. 50 hours is certainly better than the 3 1/2 days that we had a few years ago.
