Remember I mentioned the book about bark? Since then I've been looking for some to blip and this screamed out for attention. It's one of a number of Platanus × acerifolia (London Plane) planted along College Road on the way into Maidstone - I pass them some mornings if I chose to head out that way to work. This is normal for the tree; it has exfoliating bark.
