Chinese embroidery

A very large piece of Chinese embroidery hanging in the lobby in the entrance to our apartment block.

Since dusk fell firecrackers and fireworks have been set off relentlessly. Tonight, millions of Chinese families will be making jiaozi (dumplings). Jiaozi are traditionally made in the shape of ingots to signify good fortune and for millions of poor migrant workers Chinese New Year will be their one and only chance meet their families.
