Wall lights in DIY store. Awful bulbs we have now.

When will manufactures produce light bulbs equivalent in quality and amount of light output with the old lovely tungsten bulbs. Are new ones with their mercury etc in really that much more environmentally friendly. Its older people and partially sighted who are suffering from low levels of light. How stupid they look protruding out of well designed shades too.
