midwife crisis

Hubs and I went off to explore the Brow Head this afternoon, which on the map looks like the most south westerly point in Ireland. The Mizen head is officially the holder of the title. Both penisula's are stunning, you're up on the high cliffs jutting out into the The Atlantic....next stop USA.

It was wild, windy and very remote. The only company were the birds. This seagull was being battered by the winds, just as we were. But he was busy preening himself and doing essential feather maintenance balanced on top of his rock....business as usual, whilst we were laying on the edge of the cliff tops, not daring to get too close to the edge due to what looked like some recent landslides! We didn't have the advantage of wings should we tumble off....we were facing jagged rocks and a cold crashing sea below. It made me feel a bit wibbley!!

We explored what looks like old copper mine surface works and ruined cottages, ponds and lakes, surrounded by vast turquoise seas. There was something magical about our find today. We'll be back soon again with friends or family ( preferably ones who don't have small children or vertigo).

We rounded off our trip with a visit to the pub in Crookhaven for a hot chocolate and thaw by the fire. All good.

I choose this one because of the beautiful array of natural colours.
