Potpourri

I have no idea what this is. It was one of the items in a bag of potpourri I spotted in a shop. The bag contains all sorts of interesting shapes and patterns, so I figured it'd be a good source of items to try my hand on close-ups. :). This is about one cm around

Never quite understood why Anglos use the term 'potpourri': in French, it means 'rotten pot'; not so appealing, is it? :)
