Thoroughly Modern Millie
Today I was lucky enough to be invited to take some rehearsal photographs of Paisley Musical and Operatic Society. They are performing Thoroughly Modern Millie in the King's Theatre, Glasgow, from 7-11 February - and by the looks of the rehearsal it's going to be a fab show. It's a long time since I last saw a club that had such enthusiasm and such discipline... something that bodes well for another fabulous show!
I'm definitely planning to go along; you can too by visiting www.pmos.org.uk
Anyway, on to the picture. There was one photo that I knew would be photo of the day when I took it; turns out that it's a cracking picture of the dancers doing high kicks, but it possibly could just be seen as a bit of a crotch shot so I abandoned that one.
The next one I liked was one showing the rather nice (if poorly illuminated) church hall where rehearsals were taking place. Which was good because nobody was big enough to identify. But then I saw this one, and knew that this had to be it. The depth of field worked so well, picking out the one girl in the line and leaving the others blurred to varying degrees.
Technical aspects; f/4.0, ISO 6400 and 1/200s on a 200mm, non-IS lens.
Just to recap - this should be a great show, get your tickets from www.pmos.org.uk!
