From my back door

I'm hoping for some aurora action in this part of the sky tonight or Tuesday night. There's currently an enormous magnetic storm and, at one stage last night, there was talk that it could reach the Midlands (I live in Long Eaton).

There's been some great sightings and photos from Scotland and Northern England, and the planetary Kp index could rise high enough for the aurora to reach here.

But I'm not holding my breath! Even if it reaches here, I've got a chest infection and therefore confined to the house - I'd probably need to drive out into the countryside to see it! Ah well, seeing the Aurora Borealis will probably remain in my Bucket List for a while longer!
