Jumping Joe

After a trip to Stafford to see their new cousin Emily we all took off to Trentham Gardens for the afternoon. Had a scary moment when I mentioned that it had changed a lot since I was last there and then realised that would have been 1972 so it's not a surprise!

One thing that hasn't changed is a Smith family tradition.

The outdoor swimming pool is long gone but my little sister (Emily's Mum) used to climb to the very top diving board when she was about six and walk past the teenagers trying to look cool whilst they were dawdling at the end of the board. Then she'd just launch herself in, so they felt compelled to reluctantly do the same.

And so it was that Joe pushed past the big lads to jump off the climbing area "It was just like leaping off a cliff Dad".
