The Tower

Back on my old stomping ground today I did my regular walk to the High Pond. This is Knight's Law Tower in thePenicuik Estate, built in 1750 - apparently the first of its kind in Scotland. It had a do'cot on the first floor. Nowadays it is uncared for and overgrown, both with trees growing out of it and trees growing round it. It's hard to get a photo of it, and only really possible in the winter when the leaves are not there. It wasn't always like that as you can see on the old b+w photograph of it at this site.

It was a cold, bright sunny day.
