A Whitehaven Pier
The Mother and I set of early to go to a funeral in Whitehaven just as we had less than three months ago. Today was the funeral of the widower whose wife's funeral we attended at the end of October. His health had had its ups and downs but we hoped he would have many stress free years after having cared for his wife for a long, long time.
Same church, same "Pie Jesu" intro (I do love that), same "How Great Thou Art" first hymn, same "Ave Maria" solo. Same wonderful, loving support given to the family. Same very emotional but happy day had by The Mother.
A couple who lived life well together and have died together
Quite by chance, same greyness to the blip except this time I didn't desaturated the image! There was a lot of lovely light this afternoon, but somehow I didn't catch any colour in this shot.
A very nice/sad thing to happen was that The Mother was given Birthday and Christmas cards and a present that the family had found ready wrapped and labelled by their father before he took ill.
I put a more colourful shot of Bassenthwaite on Flickr.
