Strange Frost

Walking round the lake at Castle Fraser we came across a number of twigs/ small branches that has fallen recently. They all had this frost which I've never seen before, it's made up of hundreds of strands about 4cm long ans if you breath on it or touch it it melts instantly! Has anyone else seen anything like this too??
