The Great Wall of Glenlough
Took a walk in the in the soft misty drizzle, onto the mountain. Mama dog was with me, so we were bimbling along, which is a great pace for observing ones surroundings.
This wall which I've named the Great Wall of Glenlough, really is quite a wonder, some of the stones are huge and must have been put in place by a number of men. The wall is about half a mile long and goes across the most rugged landscape.
I was told that it is a boundary wall dividing the Townlands of Glenlough and Gortalassa, interestingly, the area isn't strewn with lots of loose material for building, perhaps what was there has been used in the wall!
I saw a rare Kerry slug on the wall, they are dark grey with white spots, this is the first one I've seen since the mountain was burnt nearly two tears ago now.
Rachel started her English literature A level today, looking at poems written about World War 1, very moving indeed, we especially loved Julian Grenfell's 'Into Battle'
