Departure

St Pancras Station has the new addition of Olympic rings. We are not going to let anyone forget it this year. I didn't bother looking but I know they are also on the Channel Tunnel themselves so people entering the country by train get the message.

The statue front right is Sir John Betjeman. I suspect he might have had much to say about our hype of the forthcoming Olympiad.

On the news last week it is said that the Government was disappointed that there hasn't been an enormous increase in children being involved in sports as had been predicted with the coming of the Olympics. Maybe when the event actually happens there might be a bit more interest. Certainly during Wimbledon fortnight you can't book a public tennis court for love nor money, although you shouldn't have a problem for the other 50 weeks. But I think the real problem is, that when you are a kid you are either into sports or not and you are not going to be convinced otherwise by an outside event. Perhaps this revelation might help future governments of all persuasions that results come from real action, not from wishful thinking.
