feeling nostalgic...

...for my grandmother

this was her brooch

it has matching earings - as well as a matching necklace if you can imagine... i don't know that you'd wear all 3 together... they are rather large pieces and would be somewhat overpowering all at once...

grandma loved jewelry... she had all sorts - brooches - pins - rings - earings - necklaces - sweater hooks... you know those doodads that would hold sweaters together? we don't use them anymore - but back in the day, women used to wear sweaters just thrown over their shoulders... and so they had these doodad thingys to keep them on... grandma had several of them - i got 1 of them... whoo-hoo...

anyway - for some reason... i was thinking of her today - and feeling nostalgic - so i was looking through the pieces of hers that i have. it's a wonderful thing to have memories of her in this way. i can simply put a piece of jewelry on and twirl around - feeling like she's close at hand. it makes for...
