Allan Ramsay and Coll
It's probably not the best of days (Burns' Night) to remember another poet, but Coll and I had a windswept walk this morning and the photo I liked best was this one in which you can see an obelisk commemorating Allan Ramsay (poet, not painter son - although some sources disagree about this!). It was erected around 1760 by Sir James Clerk and is on the opposite side of the valley in line with an avenue of trees leading from Penicuik house.
On my third walk with Coll I braved letting him off his lead - he was very pleased and became a very bouncy dog!
