Cold, Warm, and Hot
It's a good thing that Miss Annie did not want to take a long walk today, making it clear that a very leisurely stroll to the mailboxes at the end of the street and a quick trot (for her) back home would be sufficient, thank you very much.
We would not have enjoyed being out in the rain that followed, or this hailstorm, which came up quickly in the midst of the rain and dumped a noticeable amount of hail in a short amount of time.
I had an early lunch (cooked wheat berries microwaved with frozen chopped spinach and topped with a little cheese -- sounds strange, but I like it) because on Wednesday afternoons I go to a Gentle Yoga II class. It's a pleasure tuning into my body instead of sitting at a computer, having someone tell me (and the rest of the class) in clear, gentle tones what to do, and getting surprisingly warm from holding the poses and stretching. I always leave feeling relaxed, yet energetic.
Topping off the day was dinner with our son-in-law, D, who was on his way home from a brief business trip in Victoria and Vancouver, BC. After discussing various possibilities, we went to Pepper Sisters, one of Bellingham's longest-lived restuarants -- nearly 25 years -- and always highly rated for imaginative Southwest food.
I had the hailstorm photo as a possible blip, but I took my camera just in case, and as you'll see in Phil's journal, I even let him use it to get a blip. Let the record show that I took the first shots of my wine glass with the interesting reflections!
We took our time over the spicy, delicious food and far-ranging conversation, and topped the evening off by sharing a chocolate chili crème brûlée three ways. It wouldn't have made an attractive blip, but more than made up for it in flavor -- dark chocolate, followed by the warmth of the chili, is a great combination and very warming!
