Jaye's Blip

Orc 3 fine in London but not on Bli

I'd love to show you this blip but the moderators won't let you see it... It's a statue if a naked man which currently can be found in London staring out from the front window of the Cork Street Gallery in the Art district of Mayfair. You got that.... Front window. On to the street. In a very busy part of London with thousands of passers by every day. And yet the moral guardians at Blip deem this art too 'inappropriate' to feature.

Here's what the text for this blip was...

"this statue was in the front window of the Cork Street Gallery in London's Mayfair. It's by a sculptor and artist called Jas Davidson and formed part of the Art Erotica 2012 Exhibition, curated by Catherine Roberts. My wife also had a piece of sculpture shortlisted and hung in this show, one of only two Scottish based artists to be featured. I am of course, understandably proud :-) Jas Davidson's work certainly caused a stir in Mayfair and, indeed in the press. The window has attracted lots of attention. I wonder what the reaction would be if we were to display his work in our gallery window in Glasgow? Our exhibition "Sexual Baggage" featuring erotic work by Ruth and others will be taking place during February in our gallery in St Andrew's Street, Glasgow. So pop along and see us or get in touch for an invite"

You can see the sculpture deemed inappropriate by the blip moderators at the art erotica exhibition website.... Or google Jas davidson and Orc 3 to see it there. Then please let me know if you support this censorship of artistic freedom. If it's in a busy public street in one of the world's megacities, then why not on Blip?
